The
Archdiocese of Philadelphia
We, the faithful of the Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia in
communion with our Holy Father, shepherd of the universal Church, and
our Archbishop, shepherd of the Church in Philadelphia, proclaim to
everyone the Good News that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world, who
offers to all who follow Him the light of life.
The National
Black Catholic Congress
We, The National Black Catholic Congress, comprised of member
organizations, represent African American Roman Catholics, working in
collaboration with National Roman Catholic organizations. We commit
ourselves to establishing an agenda for the evangelization of African
Americans; and to improve the spiritual, mental, and physical conditions
of African Americans, thereby committing ourselves to the freedom and
growth of African Americans as full participants in church and society.
Today's Mass Readings
The USCCB is an assembly of the Catholic Church
hierarchy who work together to unify, coordinate, promote, and carry on
Catholic activities in the United States; to organize and conduct
religious, charitable, and social welfare work at home and abroad; to
aid in education; and to care for immigrants. The bishops themselves
constitute the membership of the Conference and are served by a staff of
over 350 lay people, priests, deacons, and religious.
The
Catechism of the Catholic Church
IT IS A
CAUSE FOR GREAT
JOY THAT THE
LATIN TYPICAL
EDITION OF THE
CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS BEING
PUBLISHED.
It is approved and promulgated by me in this Apostolic Letter and thus
becomes the definitive text of the aforementioned Catechism. This
is occurring about five years after the Apostolic Constitution Fidei
Depositum of October 11, 1992, which, on the 30th anniversary of the
opening of the Second Vatican Council, accompanied the publication of
the first, French-LANGUAGE text of the Catechism.

Philadelphia Church Project
The Project rather unexpectedly took flight in
February 2007, during a spur-of-the-moment visit to Our Lady of Hope
parish on North Broad Street...a church I had long known about but
never before visited. My experience there rekindled my passion for
grandiose, ornate religious architecture, and it made me realize
that there were countless other such buildings out there, many of
them in similar states of disrepair, neglect or anonymity.
The Philo
Since 1850, "The Philo" has been dedicated to
helping the community in the areas of catholic spirituality, charity
and social concerns. The initial Philo mission was to serve as
advocates for literacy, which has expanded throughout the years to
numerous charities and scholarship funds.
Additionally, since November 1992, the Philopatrians have shared
some of its great fortunes with Philadelphia by allowing outside
affairs to be held at the mansion. Numerous functions including
weddings, corporate dinners, meetings and receptions are shared at
the elegant and historic Stotesbury mansion.
