Mission Statement

In one of the best known Psalms - Psalm 23, we hear, "my cup overflows". Those words are very true here at Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church in the Kingdom of North Philadelphia. Our cup overflows with many blessings from our Awesome God. Join us!

As members of Saint Martin de Porres Parish of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia we seek

  • to worship in word and sacrament
  • to proclaim and live the radical Gospel message of Christ
  • to develop a loving and caring faith community committed to the principle of social justice
  • to be a strong Catholic evangelizing presence to all people and especially the African-American community

We are challenged to strive for spiritual growth, to embrace the Gospel message and to make a difference in the world. We also seek to fulfill the mission love, peace and mutual respect by:

  • inspiring one another spiritually, emotionally and morally
  • developing open and on-going conversation within our community
  • bringing one another to a deeper awareness of God's love and sense of their own discipleship
  • incorporating the values, teachings, and traditions of our African-American heritage into our prayer and worship
